"Lillian, mom wants you down for lunch right now!" I yelled from ground level and looked up at my little sister who was busy playing in her treehouse, "And no, you cannot eat your lunch up there,"
"I wasn't going to ask that, stupid," She replied, and ducked back down into her little sanctuary.
"Lilly, I mean it-" But before I could even finish my sentence, I was drenched in ice cold water.
"LILLIAN GRACE MALIBU!!" I yelled at her after I had spat out all the water that had gotten into my mouth, "I SWEAR THAT WHEN YOU COME DOWN I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"
Lilly only looked at me with an evil glare for a moment, before taking a huge breath and shouting, "MOOOOOOM! BELLE'S GIVING ME DEATH THREATS!" Arghh! Why do little sisters have to be so annoying?
Normally Lillian's not to bad. Because of the age difference, we often just ignore each other. In fact, she barely ever even talks to me. Only on the rare occasion when I come into our bedroom (yes, we share a bedroom, and yes, it is terrible) and she's still awake do we have any sort of communication. Except for today.
What's so special about today? Well, it happens to be a Sunday. Yeah, in my family, Sunday's mean family days. For a whole 24 hours, we are forced to spend time with the family.
This is why, I am basically forced to watch my little sister pretend that myself and my mother are servants, and that we have to go through her every command.
"Belle!" Lillian ordered, pointing her little wand thing at me, "I command that you leave me alone forever!"
"Your wish is granted," I replied, and headed off back into my bedroom. My mother and sister could spend the rest of family day together. After all, they will be the only ones in the house after I've left for Simville University.
University. The place that I've never really dreamed of going to. I figure it will be so much like High School, and I never really enjoyed my experience there along with all the drama that came with it.
hey babe, I read on my Simbook chat screen.
hi, I replied to him. Even though I didn't really feel like talking to my boyfriend at that time, I thought it would be rude to just log off, How's Bridgeport going for you?
it's sweet. you would not believe the kind of people I'm meeting here.
oh?
yeah. jealous much? lol, jk. ur gonna love it. beets paris anyday. trust me ;)
Well, I gtg. ttyl. I signed off, even though I didn't actually have too.
"Why did you log off just when I came? Are you trying to hide something from me??" My sister inquired as she looked over my shoulder.
"Actually I didn't even hear you," I replied as I shut my monitor off.
"That's totally not true!!! Dinosaurs are supposed to be loud, and terrifying!" Lilly replied.
"Oh it's onnn!" She said, leaping at me. Hours passed, and we didn't even notice. When the two of us actually get along, time always seems to zoom by without our noticing.
At around 10pm, little Lilly drifted off to sleep which gave me all the time in the world to check my e-mails. There was only one, and it was surprisingly from Nick Hudson.
Hey Bells. Josh told me you had decided to go to the university in Bridgeport. Thanks so much for telling me. So, are you just giving up your dreams of France now? Ever since you were 9 you talked about going there, learning the language, and mixing in with the locals.
It's not that it matters either way. In fact, it'd be even better for me if you went to Simsville Uni, that way I could probably take day trips over there to see you both! I'm just making sure that Josh isn't totally changing your dreams. Well, maybe he already has.
So, maybe before you leave you might want to hang out with me? I haven't seen you since graduation, and neither has Roxy. Well, reply soon.
From your awesome friend, Nick
Reading his message made me think. Has Josh truly changed my dreams? Was the only thing I wanted in life... him? I soon realised it was, and it had been, ever since that day in May when I was 12...
"Bells! You done playing this boring game yet? I really want to go check out that tree house over there, it looks way cool!" Nick exclaimed as I was taking my turn in hopscotch. However, I wasn't really paying attention. I had my eyes turned to the boy my age over by himself.
His name was Josh. Josh Waters. I had known him since kindergarten, and he has been the only guy in our grade that I didn't think was gross.
"Earth to Belle?" Nick asked, trying to snap me out of my trance.
"Forget it," Roxy smiled, "She's too busy creeping on her lover,"
"Or maybe she's thinking we should go play on those things too,"
"Nuh uh," Roxy whispered into his ear, "She's had a crush on him for ages!"
"No way! Not him. He's too..."
"Cool? Amazing? Cute?" Roxy suggested, "Yeah, look! She's calling him over to hang with us,"
"No, she's just trying to get him off that rocket ship so we can take it,"
"Hey!" I said as he walked over, "Are you getting lonely all by yourself over there? Maybe you should join us? We're loads of fun,"
"Well, me and Roxy are. Belle's kind of boring," Nick blurted out. Roxy gave him a serious glare, and he looked back down onto the ground, "But very unique,"
"Well, unique is good," Josh said, and even though it wasn't the best compliment ever, I smiled like a maniac and completely forgot Nick's comment from seconds before.
"Do you think she really likes him?" Nick asked Roxy as they sat in the treehouse.
"Of course! Didn't you see them?" She replied, and then added, "And, you know, being a jerk to her isn't going to make Belle like you,"
"What makes you think I want her to like me?!" Nick retorted, and then said, "I just hate Josh. He steals my friends," And then a light bulb went off inside his head, "Hey, I've got myself a fun idea!"
"Don't involve me," Roxy replied, "Your ideas always turn out to be trash,"
Making sure first that I wasn't around, Nick yelled out to Josh, "Hey! Buddy!"
"Yeah? Sup?"
"Do you like to swim?"
"Yeah, I guess-"
Nick then poured a bucket of water right onto Josh. It was a tactic that my sister would have been proud of.
"How about now?!" Nick yelled down to him and burst out laughing when the water practically drowned him for a moment.
"Thanks bro," Josh coughing up water, "I was getting a little to hot. If yunno what I mean,"
"Josh! Oh my goodness! You're soaked!" I screeched when I saw him.
"Tell me something I don't know," He replied.
"Are you okay?" I asked, pulling him into a hug, not really caring if my clothes got all wet.
"Yeah, I've never been better," He replied, "But your friend, now that's another story,"
"Who, Roxy?"
"No the dude,"
"Oh, he is definitely not my friend after that,"
"Ok, good. I was only making sure. He seems a little...off," Josh said, before leaning in and kissing my cheek, "Oh, by the way, that's my way of saying thank you,"
Little did I know, the one who truly cared, was with me all along. If only I had been able to see the hate as jealously, I would have known.
I had just realised that I had been staring at the e-mail for over an hour. There were too many thoughts inside of my head to drift off to sleep, so I decided to read the night away.
These kinds of things should be kept to books, where the reader isn't forced to be apart of it all.
